Sustainability
Delicius is a Benefit Company as of 2023.
This decision turns our vision into a concrete commitment, creating economic value while also generating value for the sea, people and communities.

On 8 June 2021, World Oceans Day, we published our first Sustainability Report to ensure full transparency for our stakeholders.
We renew this commitment every year, following the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda. We measure our performance, identify areas for improvement and set progressively more ambitious goals.
Updated annually, our Sustainability Report is available to read.
Our strategy is built around three key pillars: Sea, People and Community.
SEA
Protecting marine ecosystems
PEOPLE
Valuing skills and work
COMMUNITY
Promoting health and awareness
Our certifications
We were among the first Italian producers in our category to obtain ISO 22005 supply chain certification, adopting a traceability system that oversees every stage of the process, from fishing to processing.
This model ensures control, transparency and quality, and is reinforced by additional environmental and system certifications that confirm our commitment to responsible management.
-
MSC – Marine Stewardship Council
Certification that guarantees sourcing from fisheries managed responsibly and sustainably.
-
FOS – Friend of the Sea
International standard certifying fishing and production practices that respect marine ecosystems.
-
ISO 22005
Certification of full supply chain traceability.
-
BRCGS Broker
International certification ensuring safety, quality and traceability in food trading activities across the supply chain.
-
BRCGS Storage & Distribution (Logistics)
International certification that confirms the correct management of storage, handling and distribution, ensuring product quality and safety throughout the logistics chain.
-
BIO
Confirms the use of organic ingredients in line with European regulations. In our organic products, we use only organic extra virgin olive oil.
-
SGS product certification
This control service verifies heavy metals against defined thresholds in Delicius products.
Our research
The Delicius Scientific Bulletin brings together research developed in collaboration with universities and research institutes.
We aim to create a concrete dialogue between research, industry and distribution, turning scientific evidence into operational choices.
This is where our projects take shape and where we make the decisions that guide quality, safety and innovation.

Scientific Bulletin #2
Longevity
This study explores the role of omega 3 (EPA and DHA) from oily fish in vascular health, with a focus on endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), which are essential for blood vessel integrity.
We conducted a translational study with the University of Parma:
- an in vitro phase analysing the effects of EPA and DHA on EPC vitality, inflammation and angiogenic function
- an in vivo phase on healthy subjects, with regular consumption of Delicius mackerel or sardines to assess the impact on plasma omega 3 levels and EPC bioavailability
Omega 3 were shown to: improve EPC vitality and endothelial function, reduce inflammatory markers, increase circulating EPC levels after 6 weeks of regular consumption.
These findings strengthen the scientific basis of the Longevity Project and confirm the role of oily fish in cardiovascular prevention.
Scientific Bulletin #1
Metal Tested
This study analyses the presence of metals, metalloids and PFAS (emerging contaminants) in anchovies, mackerel and sardines from the Delicius supply chain, with a focus on food safety.
- We carried out this research with the University of Milan (DIVAS) through two protocols (2020 and 2023), analysing hundreds of samples from different FAO areas.
- We assessed risk according to EFSA parameters and compared the results with current European limits.
- Values were well below regulatory limits, providing a highly reassuring safety profile.
- We also defined the “Metal Tested Delicius” production protocol, with stricter control levels than European standards and third-party certification (SGS).
