Delicius and Festival Verdi: a connection that continues to tell the story of Parma

As Festival Verdi begins, Delicius renews its support for Teatro Regio di Parma and one of the events that best represents the city’s cultural identity.

Over time, some connections become a natural part of the story. The connection between Delicius and Teatro Regio began in Parma and is rooted in a heritage of music, culture, conviviality and people.

That’s why Delicius is once again sponsoring Festival Verdi, which returns to bring the maestro’s operas and music to the Teatro Regio stage and venues across the city.

There’s also a detail that shows just how deeply this connection is rooted in the city’s culture: an anchovy appears in Giuseppe Verdi’s Falstaff. It’s a brief, everyday presence in an opera that observes daily life and reflects its gestures, words and customs. In the “Beyond the curtain” issue of Alice&co., this reference becomes a way of showing how opera can also speak the language of everyday life and ordinary people.

It’s more than just a curiosity. It shows that food was already a familiar part of the popular culture that Verdi brought to the stage with irony and precision. In his operas, food also helps tell the story of a society, a place and a way of life.

In Parma, this dialogue between music and food continues today. Opera extends beyond the stage into the city, becoming part of its conversations, places and rituals. Behind the boxes at the Regio, during the interval, Parma’s tradition of conviviality takes shape around Prosciutto di Parma, Parmigiano Reggiano, Lambrusco and even crostini topped with anchovies.

Delicius’s relationship with Teatro Regio and Festival Verdi is part of this shared heritage. It goes beyond event sponsorship to become part of Parma’s story, in which culture, food and everyday life have always been intertwined.

The curtain’s rising once again. Enjoy Festival Verdi, Parma.
